PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy aims to transparently inform you about how the SOS Universal mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the “Application”), developed by DATASLATITUDES (hereinafter referred to as the “Publisher”), collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

By using the Application, you accept the terms of this policy. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the Application.

Effective date: June 28, 2025

1. Data controller

The data controller for your personal data is: DATASLATITUDES. (E-mail: privacy.sos_universal@dataslatitudes.com)

2. Data collected and purposes

The Application is designed to minimize the collection of personal data and exclusively favours local storage on your device. Data is processed for the following purposes:

2.1. Data you provide directly

  • Emergency contacts: you create or import contacts (names and phone numbers) from your address book.
    • Purpose: these data are used exclusively for sending alert SMS and generating phone calls to your emergency contacts.
    • Storage: these data are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
  • Standard and supplementary messages: the text you write for alert SMS messages.
    • Purpose: integrate your personalized message into the alerts sent.
    • Storage: stored locally on your device.
  • Audio recordings: the recordings you trigger.
    • Purpose: allow listening to, renaming, and deleting your recordings. Of good quality, they can serve as evidence in case of filing a complaint.
    • Storage: Stored locally in your smartphone’s downloads folder. You are solely responsible for managing and deleting these files.

2.2. Automatically collected data

  • Geolocation data: The Application accesses your device’s location (GPS or Wi-Fi) only when you enable the function to send your location in the alert message.
    • Purpose: provide your geographical location (coordinates and address) to your emergency contacts during an alert.
    • Storage: this data is neither stored nor kept by the Publisher. It is used in real time to generate the GoogleMaps (or OpenStreetMap) link and address, and is then included in the SMS sent via your telecommunications operator
  • Alert history: date, time, mode, recipient, and content of the last 50 alerts sent.
    • Purpose: allow you to consult your alert history for monitoring and management purposes.
    • Storage: stored locally on your device.
  • Access permissions: The Application requires access to your contacts, geolocation, microphone, audio recording, storage, notifications, and SMS/phone functions.
    • Purpose: these permissions are strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the Application and the execution of its features.

3. Data sharing

The Publisher does not share, sell, or rent your personal data to third parties, whether for commercial or free purposes. The only entities that receive your data are:

  • Your emergency contacts: you choose to send them information (message, location) via your mobile operator’s services (SMS/calls).
  • Google Maps: The Application uses Google’s mapping service to generate a link to your location. The use of this link is subject to Google’s terms of use and privacy policy.
  • OpenStreetMap: the Application can also use the OpenStreetMap mapping service to generate a link to your location. The use of this link is subject to OpenStreetMap’s terms of use and privacy policy.

4. Your rights (GDPR compliance)

As a user, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: you can access data stored on your device at any time via the Application.
