USE CASES
A smartphone application that allows sending alerts, calls for help, or simply one’s current location can be crucial in many situations, offering peace of mind and contributing to quick access to assistance. Here are some examples of its use cases, categorized for better understanding.
Personal safety and emergency situations
- Violence against women, LGBTphobic and serophobic violence, racist, xenophobic or religion-based violence, violence against people with disabilities : in case of physical or verbal aggression, the application allows triggering a discreet alert with a single click to trusted contacts with real-time GPS position sharing. An audio recording can also be configured to serve as evidence in case of a complaint.
- Victim of inappropriate gestures in public transport (e.g., groping in the metro): The victim can trigger a high-intensity sound alarm (police siren or human scream for example) as well as an audio recording.
- Assault or immediate threat: in case of physical aggression, attempted rape, violent theft, or any situation directly threatening the user’s physical integrity, the application allows sending a discreet and rapid alert to emergency contacts.
- Harassment or stalking situation: The application allows discreetly alerting trusted contacts or authorities in case of stalking or harassment, with the possibility of recording evidence by audio recording.
- Victims of domestic violence: it is possible to have a discreet and quick way to ask for help in case of danger, without alerting the aggressor.
In the preceding cases, the discreet alert can be supplemented or replaced by a sound deterrent: triggering a high-intensity siren or simulating an incoming phone call to create a diversion.
- Medical distress: for people suffering from chronic diseases (heart attacks, severe asthma attacks, epilepsy, severe allergies) or in case of an accident (fall, injury), the application allows sending a call for help.
- Disappearance or getting lost: particularly useful for children, elderly people with cognitive impairments, or hikers, the application allows sending real-time GPS position, facilitating searches.
- Road accidents: in case of an accident, the application allows sending an alert with the location.
- Natural disasters: during earthquakes, floods, wildfires, or other disasters, the application can be used to signal one’s position, request help, and inform loved ones of one’s safety.
Daily life and assistance
- Elderly or disabled persons: The application can be used to trigger a request for assistance.
- Children and adolescents: for parents concerned about their children’s safety, the application can allow children to send a discreet alert in case of danger, when they feel lost, or in a situation of harassment (with recording of proof).
Example: a teenager at a party who feels uncomfortable, is under pressure, or needs to be picked up without being able to express themselves directly, can send a discreet alert to their parents or a trusted adult. - Mechanical problems or vehicle breakdown: in case of a breakdown on an isolated or dangerous road, the application allows sending an alert to roadside assistance services or contacts to ask for help.
- Social isolation or feeling of danger: a person feeling vulnerable or threatened in a particular social situation (e.g., during an appointment with a stranger) can use the application to discreetly alert a friend and share their location.
- Psychological support: for people suffering from anxiety or panic attacks, the application allows alerting a trusted contact for immediate support.
Work and professional situations
- Isolated workers: for professionals working alone in high-risk environments (security guards, maintenance technicians, taxi drivers, farmers, oyster farmers), the application contributes to rapid assistance in case of an accident or aggression.
- Health and social professionals: doctors, nurses, social workers, or home care assistants visiting at-risk patients or clients can use the application to report a dangerous situation or ask for help.
- Night shift workers: employees working at night in isolated places (petrol stations, supermarkets, hotels) can have a way to quickly ask for help in case of theft or aggression.
- Journalists and reporters in risk areas: possibility to report a dangerous situation or an arrest, transmitting position and contextual information (by phone call or SMS) to emergency contacts.
Leisure and outdoor activities
- Hiking and mountaineering: in case of a fall, injury, disorientation, or extreme weather conditions, the application allows sending an alert with the GPS position to rescue teams or family.
- Water sports: for boaters, for example, the application can be used to report a problem (capsizing, engine failure, injury) with position transmission.
- Cycling and running: in case of a fall, injury, or discomfort, the application allows alerting predefined contacts with the location.
- Travel and tourism: travellers, especially those exploring unknown or dangerous areas, can use the application to alert their loved ones or consular services in case of a problem (aggression, illness, document theft).
In the preceding cases, with the aim of informing your professional or family circle for example, the alert can also be limited to sending only the current geographical location by SMS. Example: in repetitive mode, for 5 hours, every 15 minutes, I send an SMS containing only my location.
