DEFINITION OF ALERT CONTENT AND MODE

The alert content is optionally defined by:
- a phone call
- an SMS message. If a personalized message has been saved for a contact, it will be prioritized over the standard message text defined in the alert content.
- the sending of the location and/or address that complement the text of the SMS; the location is a hyperlink to a GoogleMaps (or OpenStreetMap) map. Example:
I have a serious problem, can you come to my aid?
I am here (location may be approximate):
https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=48.86080%2C2.31711
9B rue de l'Université, 75000 Paris, France

- a good quality audio recording to serve as evidence. All audio recordings are stored in your smartphone’s downloads folder.
- a sound alert which can be a high-intensity sound alarm or a simulated incoming phone call. The choice of alarm (police siren or human scream) is made in the SOS Universal settings.
Three alert modes are possible
The immediate mode

Immediate mode allows the alert to be sent immediately after it is triggered (SOS button on the home screen).
The deferred mode

Deferred mode allows, from the moment the alert is triggered (SOS button on the home screen), to defer its sending for a specified delay in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Example: I send an alert in 15 minutes.
The repetitive mode

Repetitive mode allows, from the moment the alert is triggered (SOS button on the home screen), to defer its sending for a specified delay in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Example: I send an alert in 5 minutes, it will be repeated for 1 hour every 15 minutes.
Some examples of alert content and mode configuration depending on the use case
Launching SOS Universal using one of the two application widgets on the device’s home screen with automatic alert triggering is recommended in most cases. (Launching the application), (Settings)
By default, we recommend configuring SOS Universal according to situation 1.1 or 1.2 below.
1. Personal safety and emergency situations
1.1 Insecurity situation with immediate alert without sound alarm
I want to be able to face a situation of verbal or physical aggression (or harassment) discreetly, a situation of medical distress, or if I am a victim of an accident or mechanical breakdown.
The alert content is defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, and a possible audio recording.
Immediate mode is chosen.
1.2 Insecurity situation with immediate alert and sound alarm
I want to be able to face a situation of verbal or physical aggression (or harassment) and disturb my aggressor by triggering a high-intensity sound alarm or creating a diversion by simulating an incoming phone call.
The alert content is defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, an audio recording, and a sound alert (alarm or simulated incoming call).
Immediate mode is chosen.
1.3 Presumed insecurity or discomfort situation with deferred alert
I want to be able to anticipate a presumed insecurity situation and be sure to be able to trigger an alert in advance. Examples: appointment with a stranger, presumption of a conflictual interview, anticipation of a risky or annoying situation …
In case of doubt, I have the possibility to cancel the alert before it is triggered (which I am aware of by a prior vibration of the device).
The alert content can be defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, an (optional) audio recording, and an (optional) sound alert.
This alert content can, of course, be defined only by a simulated incoming phone call.
Deferred mode is chosen with, for example, a fifteen-minute delay.
1.4. Presumed insecurity or discomfort situation with repetitive alert
I want to be able to anticipate a presumed insecurity situation over time and be sure to be able to trigger an alert in advance that will be repeated.
Example: during a one-hour jog or walk, I want an alert to potentially be triggered every fifteen minutes … In the absence of a bad encounter, I have the possibility to cancel each alert just before it is triggered (which I am aware of by a prior vibration of the device). I can cancel only the next alert or all alerts.
The alert content can be defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, an (optional) audio recording, and an (optional) sound alert.
Repetitive mode is chosen with, for example, a five-minute delay, a repetition time of one hour, and a frequency of fifteen minutes.
2. Daily life and assistance
2.1. Elderly or disabled persons
I want to be able to configure SOS Universal for my elderly or disabled loved ones, to trigger a simple request for assistance.
The alert content is defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address.
Immediate mode is chosen and it is advisable to lock the application to prevent mishandling.
2.2. Children and adolescents
I want to be able to configure SOS Universal on my children’s smartphones, to trigger a discreet alert in case of harassment or other insecure situations.
The alert content is defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, and an audio recording.
Immediate mode is chosen and it is advisable to lock the application to prevent mishandling.
3. Work and professional situations
For example, as a lone worker, health and social care professional, night staff, or journalist in a risk area, I want to be able to alert my employer or loved ones in case of an accident, aggression, or arrest.
The alert content can be defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, an (optional) audio recording, and an (optional) sound alert.
The mode can be immediate, deferred, or repetitive.
4. Leisure and outdoor activities
4.1. Managing an accident, injury, or assault
For example, as a hiker, mountaineer, water sports enthusiast, cyclist, runner, or tourist, I want to be able to alert my loved ones in case of a problem.
The alert content can be defined by a phone call, an SMS with geographical location and address, an (optional) audio recording, and an (optional) sound alert.
Immediate mode is chosen.
4.2. Tracking my geographical position
For example, as a hiker, mountaineer, water sports enthusiast, cyclist, runner, or tourist, I want to be able to regularly transmit my geographical position to my loved ones.
The alert content is defined solely by geographical location.
Repetitive mode is chosen with, for example, a five-minute delay, a repetition time of four hours, and a frequency of thirty minutes.
